A holiday-spiced grenadine syrup, soda water, and a twist is a developed Shirley Temple we can all delight in. For the grownups who wish to imbibe, a splash of Scotch fits right.
Components
- 3 3″ cinnamon sticks
- 1 4″ piece ginger, very finely sliced lengthwise
- 10 entire cloves
- 6 cups pomegranate juice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 12 oz. Scotch (optional)
- Soda water and lemon twists (for serving)
Preparation

Bring cinnamon sticks, ginger, cloves, pomegranate juice, and sugar to a boil in a medium pan. Prepare till minimized to 1 1/2 cups, about 40 minutes. Stress syrup through a fine-mesh screen into a heatproof measuring glass; dispose of solids. Let cool.

To serve, put 1 oz. pomegranate syrup and 1 oz. Scotch, if utilizing, into a high ice-filled glass. Complete with soda water and stir to integrate; garnish with a lemon twist.

Do Ahead: Syrup can be made 10 days in ahead. Chill in an airtight container.
